Introduction & Core Philosophy

This Privacy Policy describes how Scanly ("we", "our", or "the application", identified by package name com.innovativelimited.scanly) handles information when you use our mobile software on the Android platform.

Scanly was purposefully built from the ground up as an offline utility. We believe your barcode scans, product inventories, and custom styling templates are your private property. Accordingly, Scanly does not operate cloud storage servers, does not transmit personal data, and does not monitor user activity.

02

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or disclose any of the following categories of data:

  • ✓ No Personal Identification: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials. No sign-in or login is ever required.
  • ✓ No Device Identifiers: We do not read or record IMEI numbers, Android Advertising IDs (AAID), MAC addresses, or hardware serial numbers.
  • ✓ No Location Data: Scanly does not access GPS or approximate network location.
  • ✓ No Network Transmissions: The barcode generation and scanning algorithms execute purely in local processor memory.
03

Device Permissions & Camera Usage

To deliver its scanning functionality, Scanly may request access to specific hardware capabilities under strict, user-controlled parameters:

  • ✓ Camera Access (android.permission.CAMERA): Requested at runtime solely to display the live scanner viewfinder and detect optical barcodes. Camera frames are processed strictly in real-time memory and are never recorded, photographed, or uploaded.
  • ✓ Optional Permission: Camera access is entirely optional. If you decline camera permissions, you can still use the full Barcode Designer Studio, create custom templates, and generate all supported barcode formats.
  • ✓ Zero Storage Access: Scanly adheres to modern Android scoped privacy guidelines and does not request broad storage permissions (such as READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE or WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
04

Local Storage & User Deletion Rights

All application data is confined to your device's sandboxed local storage using an embedded SQLite/Room database (scanly_database):

  • ✓ Scan History Log: Records your scanned and generated barcodes, format tags, and dates for your personal reference.
  • ✓ Saved Custom Templates: Stores your personalized styling configurations (bar colors, roundness, heights, formats) so you can reuse them offline anytime.
Full User Control: You have complete authority over your data. You can delete individual scan records at any time, delete custom templates, or tap "Clear All" in the History tab to permanently delete all stored records. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all databases from your device.
05

Zero Third-Party SDKs or Data Brokers

Unlike typical mobile applications, Scanly does not incorporate commercial monetization or behavioral tracking SDKs:

  • ✓No Advertising Networks (No AdMob, Unity, AppLovin, etc.)
  • ✓No Analytics or Telemetry Trackers (No Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Flurry, etc.)
  • ✓No AI Telemetry or Remote Processing Services
  • ✓No Cross-App Tracking or Data Broker Integrations
06

Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Scanly is a utility application suitable for general audiences. Because the application operates 100% offline and collects zero personal data, it does not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in any jurisdiction).

07

Google Play Developer Policy Compliance

Scanly complies with all Google Play Developer Program Policies, including:

  • ✓ Prominent Disclosure: Clear explanation of camera usage in accordance with Play Store hardware permissions standards.
  • ✓ Zero Dynamic Code Loading (DCL): All executable code is compiled within the signed APK/AAB bundle. No external code execution.
  • ✓ Privacy Policy URL: This publicly accessible page serves as the verified Privacy Policy URL required for Google Play Console submission.
08

Changes to This Policy

We may periodically update this policy if new local features are added. Any updates will be reflected directly on this page with a revised "Effective Date". Because the app does not maintain user email addresses or cloud accounts, we encourage reviewing this policy occasionally through the app settings or via our store listing.
